In 1974, Heber J. Andrus opened two Bug and Weed Stores in the Phoenix area. As a family business, it was natural for his son Sam to be involved. Sam started in sales at 16 years old. He gained experience in product sales and began equipment design a few years later. While attending Arizona State University, he focused his effort on an education that would complement his experience. In 2000, Sam earned his Bachelor of Science degree from ASU in Agricultural Management.
Since taking over, Sam’s goal has been to grow in the spray equipment market. A major milestone was the purchase of Arizona Spray Equipment in June of 2002. The combination of Bug and Weed Stores and Arizona Spray Equipment provide customers with a full-service spray equipment shop that includes a full-time team of fabricators and mechanics specializing in electronics and hydraulics. Each location also has a knowledgeable sales team that is available to provide information on spray equipment, insecticides, herbicides, fertilizers and professional lawn and garden supplies.
